What it is
What Morpheus8
actually does.
Radiofrequency microneedling that heats the deeper skin to firm laxity along the jaw, cheeks and neck. Morpheus8 in Bradford, Ontario.
Working under the surface rather than on it
Most skin treatments act on the surface. Morpheus8 is designed to do the opposite: to leave the surface relatively intact and put energy into the layers underneath, where laxity actually originates.
The handpiece drives an array of insulated needles through the epidermis to a depth chosen by the clinician. Because the needles are insulated along their shaft, no energy is released until the tip, so the heat is deposited exactly where it was aimed. That heat causes immediate collagen contraction and triggers a longer remodelling response over the following weeks and months.
Fractional delivery means only a proportion of the tissue is treated at each pass, leaving untreated tissue in between to support healing.
The concerns it fits
A jawline that has lost its edge. Early jowling that is not yet heavy enough for anything surgical. Crepiness under the chin and along the neck. Skin quality on the lower face where things have started to soften but have not descended dramatically.
It also has a strong role in acne scarring, where the combination of needling and dermal heating helps remodel scar tissue, and in improving the general thickness and tone of skin that has thinned.
Where we will tell you it is not the answer
If your skin has genuinely descended, if there is loose tissue that will need excising, radiofrequency microneedling will not lift it and pretending otherwise wastes your money. Surgery is the honest answer in that situation and we will say so.
If your concern is fat rather than skin, this is not a fat treatment. If your concern is redness, this is not a vascular treatment. If your concern is a leathery, deeply lined surface, CO2 will serve you better.
Who this suits, and who it does not
It suits you if you have mild to moderate laxity, if you can accept a course rather than one session, and if you would rather build a gradual, natural change than have a sudden one.
It does not suit you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have active infection or inflamed acne in the area, if you have an implanted electronic device without clearance, or if you cannot avoid sun during the healing period.
At the appointment
You are assessed and photographed, and the plan, depths and energy settings are set for your skin and signed off by our Medical Director. Topical anaesthetic is applied and given proper time to work, because this is not a comfortable treatment without it.
The handpiece is passed methodically across the area, often in more than one depth pass, with the deeper passes done first. You will feel heat and pressure.
Afterwards
Redness, warmth and swelling are expected, and you will see a fine grid pattern of pinpoint marks across the treated skin. The area feels tight, dry and sandpapery as it recovers.
You will be given written aftercare covering cleansing, moisturising, sun protection, and when you can return to makeup and exercise. The result is not immediate. Some tightening is apparent early from collagen contraction, but the meaningful change comes from remodelling over the following months, which is why we photograph and review rather than judging it in the first week.
If it is wrong for you, we say so before you book again. A nurse-practitioner-led clinic has a licence at stake. That is the whole reason we are careful - and the reason the honest answer sometimes is "not this, and not yet".
Concerns
What it treats.
Every concern below is one we would consider Morpheus8 for. Open any of them for the honest version: what actually causes it, and what we would and would not do.
Being straight with you
When we would
tell you no.
Every clinic lists who a treatment suits. This is the other half. If any of these is you, say so at the consultation and we will talk about what else might work, or about waiting.
- You have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device without medical clearance.
- Your skin has genuinely descended and needs excising. Radiofrequency will not lift that.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding. We will plan the course for afterwards.
- You have active infection or inflamed acne in the treatment area.
- You cannot stay out of the sun while the skin heals.
- You want the change next week. The meaningful remodelling happens over the following months.
Who performs it

How it works
Four appointments'
worth of care.
Nothing here happens on the same visit you first walk in, unless you want it to and it is right for you. This is the order we work in.
- 01
Consult
We look at what is actually bothering you, ask what you have tried, and tell you honestly whether this is the right treatment. Costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
- 02
Plan
Your clinician maps the plan with you and agrees it before you commit to anything. The plan is signed off by our Medical Director before treatment begins.
- 03
Treatment
Your clinician carries out the plan exactly as it was agreed. You are told what is happening, where and why, before it starts - and the quoted price does not change on the chair.
- 04
Review
We see you again to check the result and adjust the plan for next time. The first appointment is the start of the plan, not the whole of it.

Questions people actually ask
Straight answers.
What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is a fractional radiofrequency microneedling device. Insulated needles pass through the skin surface and deliver radiofrequency energy at a controlled depth beneath it, heating the deeper dermis and the fibrous layer below. The needling creates the channel; the radiofrequency does the work.
How is it different from ordinary microneedling?
Ordinary microneedling injures the skin mechanically and relies on your healing response, and it works mostly in the upper dermis. Morpheus8 adds heat at a chosen depth beneath the surface, which is what allows it to affect laxity and contour rather than only texture. It is a substantially stronger treatment and it costs more, so the honest question at consultation is whether you actually need the depth.
Is Morpheus8 or CO2 laser better for me?
They solve different problems, and we own both, so we have no reason to steer you. CO2 resurfaces the surface and is stronger for texture, deep lines and scarring. Morpheus8 works beneath the surface and is stronger for laxity, jawline definition and the neck. If your concern is a saggy jaw, Morpheus8 is the answer; if it is a leathery, lined surface, CO2 is.
Can it be used on darker skin?
Radiofrequency energy is not absorbed by melanin the way light and laser energy is, which makes RF microneedling one of the safer energy treatments across a range of skin tones. That does not make it risk free, and we still assess your skin type, your history of pigmentation and your healing before setting depths and energy.
Where on the body can it be used?
Face, jawline, neck and under the chin are the most requested. It is also used on the abdomen, arms and other body areas where skin quality and mild laxity are the concern. It is not a fat reduction treatment and it is not a substitute for surgical skin removal.
How many sessions will I need?
It is normally planned as a course rather than a single session, because collagen remodelling is cumulative. The number depends on the area and how much laxity we are working against, and we quote the whole course at consultation. If we do not think a course of Morpheus8 will get you where you want to be, we will say so.
What is the recovery like?
Expect redness, warmth, swelling and a grid-like pattern of tiny marks across the treated area for a period afterwards, with the skin feeling rough and dry as it settles. It is a real recovery, less than CO2 and more than a facial. Plan it away from events and be strict with sun protection.
Who should not have Morpheus8?
We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, inflamed acne or open lesions in the area, or in anyone with an implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker without appropriate medical clearance. Metal implants in the treatment area, recent isotretinoin use and a keloid scarring history all need to be discussed before we plan anything.
