What it is

What mesotherapy
actually does.

Micro-injections of vitamins, amino acids and hyaluronic acid into the skin's surface layers. Mesotherapy in Bradford, Ontario, quoted at consult.

A delivery method, not a branded product

Mesotherapy is best understood as a route of administration. The active ingredients are not exotic: vitamins, amino acids, minerals, antioxidants, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, sometimes peptides. What makes mesotherapy different is that they are placed directly into the superficial layers of the skin in tiny volumes, across an area, rather than being rubbed onto the surface and hoped for.

That framing is useful because it also tells you what mesotherapy cannot do. It does not lift, it does not add structure, and it does not resurface. It supports the environment the skin is working in.

What it is used for here

Facial mesotherapy is used for dull, tired, dehydrated skin, particularly where the complaint is general rather than specific. It is also used on the neck and chest.

Scalp mesotherapy is used as part of a hair plan, delivering nutrients around the follicle. We treat it as one component of a wider approach rather than the whole answer, and we would usually want your hair loss assessed properly first.

Who this suits, and who it does not

It suits you if you want incremental improvement in skin condition, if you are comfortable committing to a course rather than a single session, and if you would rather build a result slowly than have one visible treatment.

It does not suit you if you want a single dramatic change, if your concern is structural, or if you have significant pigmentation or scarring, all of which need a different modality. It is also not the right choice if you are unwilling to have many small injection points, because that is intrinsic to the technique.

We do not treat in pregnancy or breastfeeding, over infected or actively inflamed skin, or where there is a known allergy to any component of the solution.

At the appointment

The area is cleansed and topical anaesthetic is applied if you want it. Your clinician works methodically across the area in a grid, injecting very small volumes at a shallow depth using a fine needle or a mesotherapy device. It takes patience more than force.

You will see immediate blebs across the treated area. That is what the treatment looks like when it has been done properly.

Afterwards

Redness and small raised points are normal and settle. You will be advised to leave the skin bare for a period, to avoid heat, saunas and heavy exercise for a short while, and to use sun protection.

Because the effect is cumulative, we review at the end of the planned course rather than after the first session. If we do not think it is working for you, we will say so and change the plan rather than selling you more of the same.

Every area is assessed and mapped before anything is drawn up.

If it is wrong for you, we say so before you book again. A nurse-practitioner-led clinic has a licence at stake. That is the whole reason we are careful - and the reason the honest answer sometimes is "not this, and not yet".

Concerns

What it treats.

Every concern below is one we would consider mesotherapy for. Open any of them for the honest version: what actually causes it, and what we would and would not do.

Being straight with you

When we would
tell you no.

Every clinic lists who a treatment suits. This is the other half. If any of these is you, say so at the consultation and we will talk about what else might work, or about waiting.

  • You want a single dramatic change. This builds slowly across a planned course.
  • Your concern is structural, so volume or contour. Mesotherapy supports skin, it does not lift.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding. We will pick it up afterwards.
  • You are unwilling to have many small injection points. That is intrinsic to the technique.
  • You have a known allergy to a component of the solution.
  • You want a fat pocket reduced. That is a different treatment with a different product.

How it works

Four appointments'
worth of care.

Nothing here happens on the same visit you first walk in, unless you want it to and it is right for you. This is the order we work in.

  1. 01

    Consult

We look at what is actually bothering you, ask what you have tried, and tell you honestly whether this is the right treatment. Costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

  2. 02

    Plan

Your clinician maps the plan with you and agrees it before you commit to anything. The plan is signed off by our Medical Director before treatment begins.

  3. 03

    Treatment

Your clinician carries out the plan exactly as it was agreed. You are told what is happening, where and why, before it starts - and the quoted price does not change on the chair.

  4. 04

    Review

We see you again to check the result and adjust the plan for next time. The first appointment is the start of the plan, not the whole of it.

What it costs

There is no
price list. On purpose.

Mesotherapy is quoted at your consultation, because the honest answer depends on the person in front of us. Two people asking for the same thing can need genuinely different treatments.

A number on a web page would be easy to publish and useless to you: it tells you nothing about what your own treatment actually involves. So we give you the real figure in person, before anything begins, and it does not change once you are in the chair.

Questions people actually ask

Straight answers.

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a technique rather than a single product. Very small amounts of a solution containing ingredients such as vitamins, amino acids, minerals and non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid are injected superficially across an area in a grid pattern. The idea is delivery: putting active ingredients where a topical cannot reliably reach.

How is mesotherapy different from a skinbooster?

A skinbooster is essentially one ingredient, hyaluronic acid, placed to hydrate the skin. A mesotherapy cocktail contains multiple ingredients chosen for your concern and is injected more superficially. Mesotherapy is also more often planned as a course of closely spaced sessions, whereas a skinbooster course is usually shorter.

Can mesotherapy be used on the scalp?

Yes, scalp mesotherapy is one of its most common uses and it is often combined with a broader hair loss plan. It is not a replacement for finding out why your hair is thinning. We would rather assess the cause first, because treating an untreated deficiency or an untreated medical driver with injections alone tends not to hold.

How many sessions does it take?

Mesotherapy is designed as a course rather than a single appointment, and the number depends on the area and the concern. We plan and price the whole course at your consultation so you know the total before you start, rather than being asked to book another one each time you come in.

Does it hurt?

It is a series of many very shallow pinpricks, which most people find more tedious than painful. Topical anaesthetic is used where appropriate. The scalp tends to be more sensitive than the face for most people.

What are the marks afterwards?

You will have small raised blebs at each injection point and some redness, and they settle over the following hours to a day or so. Pinpoint bruising is possible. Because the injections are superficial and numerous, the immediate appearance is more visible than with most injectables even though the treatment itself is light.

Is mesotherapy a fat dissolving treatment?

Not as we use it here. The word mesotherapy is sometimes used loosely to describe injection lipolysis, which is a different treatment with a different product and a different purpose. If your goal is reducing a small fat pocket, the correct page is fat dissolving injections and we will book you for that instead.

Who should not have it?

We do not perform mesotherapy during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection or inflamed acne in the area, or in anyone with a known allergy to a component of the solution. If you have an autoimmune condition or are on anticoagulants, tell us at consultation so we can assess whether it is appropriate.

Related treatments

If this is not the whole answer for your face, one of these usually is. Every one of them is planned by the same nurses, in the same room.
