The strongest resurfacing we offer
CO2 is the most powerful skin resurfacing tool on our menu, and that cuts both ways. It produces changes that gentler treatments cannot, and it demands respect, proper assessment and real recovery time in return.
The laser emits energy at a wavelength strongly absorbed by water. Since your skin is mostly water, that energy vaporises tissue in precisely controlled microscopic columns. Around each column, a zone of heated tissue triggers collagen contraction and remodelling. The skin between the columns is left intact and supplies the cells that resurface the treated ones.
The result is a controlled, healing wound that resolves into skin with better texture, tighter collagen and less accumulated damage.
What it is genuinely good for
Deep static lines, particularly the vertical lines above the upper lip that no injectable properly addresses. Sun-damaged, leathery skin. Uneven texture and enlarged pores. Acne scarring, where CO2 is one of the few tools that can meaningfully remodel a scar floor rather than camouflage it.
The perioral area is treated separately, and with a different device: smoker’s lines around the mouth are a Plexr treatment at $499 rather than a CO2 one. It is a common standalone request from people who are otherwise happy with their skin, which is exactly why it is priced on its own.
What it will not do
It will not treat redness, flushing or visible vessels; that is BBL territory. It will not replace volume, and treating a deflated face with resurfacing alone can make it look thinner rather than better. It is not the right first move for melasma, which is heat sensitive and can be provoked by aggressive light and laser treatment.
Who this suits, and who it does not
It suits you if you have genuine textural damage, if you can take real recovery time, if you will commit to strict sun avoidance afterwards, and if you want a step change rather than an incremental one.
It does not suit you if you cannot be off work or out of the sun, if you tan easily or have recently tanned, if you have a history of keloid scarring, or if you have taken isotretinoin recently. Higher Fitzpatrick skin types need careful assessment and sometimes a different treatment altogether, and we will tell you honestly if we think the pigmentation risk is not worth taking.
At the appointment
You are assessed, photographed and consented. Topical anaesthetic is applied and time is allowed for it to work properly. Settings are chosen for your skin and your concern, not preset, and your treatment plan is signed off by our Medical Director.
The sensation during treatment is heat and prickling, and cooling is used throughout. Afterwards your skin will feel hot, as sunburn does.
Afterwards
Expect redness, swelling, weeping and then peeling, in that order. You will be given a detailed written aftercare plan covering cleansing, occlusive ointment, what to avoid, and the specific signs that should prompt you to call us.
Sun protection afterwards is not optional. New skin is highly susceptible to pigmentation and the single most common way people undermine an excellent CO2 result is a sunny weekend three weeks later. Final results build over months as collagen remodels.
If it is wrong for you, we say so before you book again. A nurse-practitioner-led clinic has a licence at stake. That is the whole reason we are careful - and the reason the honest answer sometimes is "not this, and not yet".

Being straight with you
When we would
tell you no.
Every clinic lists who a treatment suits. This is the other half. If any of these is you, say so at the consultation and we will talk about what else might work, or about waiting.
- You cannot be off work and out of sight for a genuine recovery period.
- You are tanned, or you tan easily. Resurfaced skin and UV are a bad combination.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding. We will book you in afterwards instead.
- Your concern is redness, flushing or visible vessels. CO2 does nothing for those.
- You have a history of keloid scarring. We will discuss the risk before planning anything.
- You are taking isotretinoin, or stopped recently. Tell us, because it changes the timing.

Nothing here happens on the same visit you first walk in, unless you want it to and it is right for you. This is the order we work in.

Consult
We look at what is actually bothering you, ask what you have tried, and tell you honestly whether this is the right treatment. Costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Plan
Your clinician maps the plan with you and agrees it before you commit to anything. The plan is signed off by our Medical Director before treatment begins.
- 03
Treatment
Your clinician carries out the plan exactly as it was agreed. You are told what is happening, where and why, before it starts - and the quoted price does not change on the chair.
- 04
Review
We see you again to check the result and adjust the plan for next time. The first appointment is the start of the plan, not the whole of it.

What does CO2 laser resurfacing cost?
The face is $1,199 and the face with the neck is $1,499 at our Bradford clinic. A three session package is $2,699 for the face and $3,375 with the neck, which saves 25%. Smoker's lines around the mouth are a Plexr treatment rather than CO2, at $499. Your final plan is confirmed at consultation, because the right depth and area are decided by assessment and not by a menu.
What is fractional ablative laser?
Ablative means the laser removes tissue rather than only heating it. Fractional means it does so in a pattern of tiny columns with untreated skin left in between. Those untreated bridges are what allow the skin to heal from the sides rather than from the base, which is why fractional treatment is safer and recovers faster than the fully ablative resurfacing of decades ago.
Is there real downtime with CO2?
Yes, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something weaker than CO2. This is our most aggressive resurfacing treatment. You should expect a genuine recovery period with redness, swelling, oozing and peeling, and you should book it when you can be out of sight and out of the sun. We will tell you exactly what to expect for your settings at consultation.
What does it actually treat?
Deep lines and creases, sun damage, uneven texture, enlarged pores, and acne scarring, particularly boxcar and rolling scars. It also improves laxity to a degree through collagen contraction. It does not treat redness or vascular flushing, which is what BBL is for.
Can it be done on darker skin tones?
It requires caution, honest assessment and often a different plan. Ablative laser carries a real risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in higher Fitzpatrick skin types. We assess your skin type properly, may recommend priming your skin beforehand, and will recommend a different modality if we think CO2 is not the right risk for you. We would rather lose the booking than cause pigment.
Will I need more than one treatment?
It depends on the concern and the depth we treat at. Deep acne scarring is usually a staged plan rather than a single event; general resurfacing may be less. We map out what we think you need at consultation and quote it rather than starting and adding as we go.
Can I have it in the summer?
We prefer not to, and we will usually recommend waiting. Resurfaced skin is highly vulnerable to UV, and sun exposure during healing is the fastest way to end up with pigmentation you did not have before. If you are travelling somewhere sunny, tell us and we will time the treatment around it.
Who should not have CO2 resurfacing?
We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, or in anyone who has recently taken isotretinoin without an appropriate interval. A history of keloid scarring, cold sores, active eczema or psoriasis in the area, or recent tanning all change the plan and sometimes rule it out. Everything is covered at consultation.
