What plexr eyelid treatment
actually does.
Plexr plasma for loose upper and lower eyelid skin, without a scalpel and without stitches. $799 an eyelid at our Bradford, Ontario clinic.
What it is for
Loose skin on the upper eyelid, and the crepey skin below the lower lashes. That is what this treatment is for at our clinic, and it is what almost every person who books it comes in asking about.
It is a non-surgical treatment. Nothing is cut, nothing is excised, there are no stitches and there is no flap of skin removed. It also does not produce the result a surgical blepharoplasty produces, and it is not a substitute for one where surgery is what the eyelid actually needs. The device, explained plainly
Plexr is a plasma device, and plasma here means ionised gas rather than anything to do with blood. The handpiece holds a fine tip a very small distance above the skin. A voltage is applied across that gap, ionising the air in it and producing a controlled electrical arc.
Where the arc contacts the skin it sublimates a microscopic point of tissue, converting it directly from solid to vapour. The energy is spent in that instant and at that point, so it does not spread into the tissue around it the way a broad heat source would. That precision is exactly why it suits an eyelid, where the skin is thinner than anywhere else on the body and the margin for error is small.
Because a tiny amount of tissue has genuinely been removed and the surrounding tissue has been heated slightly, the skin retracts toward each point. Place a controlled grid of those points across the lid and the cumulative retraction visibly tightens it.
The other things we treat with it
Fine lines around the mouth, which the guide prices separately, and superficial benign lesions such as skin tags, where millimetre precision without cutting is useful. Both are secondary. If you are reading this page, it is far more likely you are here about an eyelid.
How it compares with the other tightening options we own
Morpheus8 works under the skin with radiofrequency at depth and treats broader laxity across a large area. CO2 resurfaces a whole surface. Plexr is different from both: it is a point-by-point treatment on a small, defined area where you want tissue actually removed rather than heated, and the eyelid is the clearest example of such an area.
That is why we do not present these as competing options. They do different jobs, and at consultation we will tell you which one your face needs.
Who this suits, and who it does not
It suits you if you have a small, well-defined area of loose eyelid skin, if you can accept several days of visible crusting and swelling around the eyes, if you can stay out of the sun, and if you will follow the aftercare exactly.
It does not suit you if you need a broad lift, if you have significant descent that needs a surgical or ophthalmic opinion, if you cannot be seen with marks around your eyes for a period, or if you have a history of keloid scarring or of pigmenting after inflammation without a careful discussion first.
At the appointment
The area is assessed, photographed, marked and consented. Topical anaesthetic is applied and given proper time to work. Your clinician then places the treatment points in a planned pattern, working methodically at the density decided for your skin and your lid.
You will smell a faint burnt note. Small dark points appear as the treatment progresses. That is what the treatment is supposed to look like.
Afterwards
Expect swelling, and expect it to be at its most obvious in the first day or two. Around the eyes it is more visible than it would be anywhere else, and it is normal. The dark crusts stay in place until they fall away naturally.
You will be given clear written aftercare covering cleansing, what to apply, makeup, and strict sun protection. The final result is judged after the skin has fully settled, not while it is crusted, and we book a review to do exactly that.
If it is wrong for you, we say so before you book again. A nurse-practitioner-led clinic has a licence at stake. That is the whole reason we are careful - and the reason the honest answer sometimes is "not this, and not yet".

tell you no.
Every clinic lists who a treatment suits. This is the other half. If any of these is you, say so at the consultation and we will talk about what else might work, or about waiting.
- You cannot be seen with dark crusts around your eyes for several days.
- You need a broad lift. This treats small, defined areas point by point.
- You have significant descent that needs an ophthalmic or surgical opinion. We will say so rather than treat you.
- You have a history of keloid scarring or of pigmenting after inflammation.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding, or you are recently tanned. Both mean postponing.
- You will not leave the crusts alone. Picking them is the fastest route to a mark.

What is Plexr?
Plexr is a plasma device. It ionises the gas in the small air gap between the tip and your skin, creating a tiny electrical arc that sublimates a microscopic point of tissue on contact, turning it directly from solid to vapour without cutting or bleeding. A grid of those points across the eyelid causes the skin between them to contract.
Is this surgery?
No. Nothing is cut, nothing is excised and there are no stitches, and we do not describe it as surgery. It is a non-surgical treatment for loose eyelid skin, and it does not deliver the result a surgical blepharoplasty delivers. If what your eyelids actually need is surgery, we will tell you that at the consultation instead of treating you.
What is Plexr used for here?
Loose upper and lower eyelid skin, which is the great majority of what we treat with it, and fine lines around the mouth. It is also used for small superficial lesions such as skin tags, where working with millimetre precision without cutting is genuinely useful.
How much does it cost?
An upper eyelid is $799 and a lower eyelid is $799. Upper and lower together are $1,400, and smoker's lines around the mouth are $499. Those are Canadian dollars before applicable taxes, from our June 2026 price guide.
How many treatments will I need?
That depends on how much loose skin there is and how your skin responds to the first pass. Some eyelids settle in one treatment and some need a second once the first has fully healed, which is several weeks later. We will give you an honest view at the consultation, and we will not book a second one before we have seen how the first healed.
Is there downtime?
Yes, and it is visible. Each treated point forms a small dark crust which stays in place while the skin underneath heals and then falls away on its own over the following days. During that period the eyelid is obviously marked and usually swollen, and swelling around the eyes is more noticeable than anywhere else on the face. Anyone describing this as a no-downtime treatment has not treated with it.
Can I pick the crusts off?
No, and this is the single most important instruction we give. The crusts are the dressing your body has made and removing them early is the main route to a mark that lasts far longer than the treatment. They come away by themselves. Keep the area clean, keep it protected from the sun, and leave it alone.
Is it safe for all skin tones?
It requires careful assessment. Any treatment that creates controlled injury carries a risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and that risk is higher in darker skin. We assess your skin type and your history of pigmentation, and if we think the risk is not worth the benefit for you, we will tell you and offer an alternative.
Who should not have this treatment?
We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection or inflammation, or in anyone with a history of keloid scarring without careful discussion. Recent isotretinoin use requires an interval, recent tanning means postponing, and certain autoimmune and healing disorders rule it out. Significant eyelid descent, or anything affecting your vision, needs a medical opinion before an aesthetic one. This is assessed properly rather than assumed.
