Understanding Your Aging Skin

As soon as we reach 35 years of age, our cell metabolism begins to slow down one percent each year.  Our collagen and elastin fibers continue to break down at a regular pace.  Due to our cell metabolism slowing down, both fibers are not replenished as quickly as they used to be and premature signs of aging begin to surface.

The eye area is the first facial contour that begins to show signs of  aging, often referred to as “crow’s feet”.  The eye area is very thin and fragile, making it the most difficult part to reverse the signs of aging.  As we age, the eye area begins to lack collagen and elastin fibers, which are responsible for providing a smooth, firm structure.  When treating the eye area, it is important to use proper homecare, such as our Youth Eye Complex, as the area is subject to dehydration.  The Youth Eye Complex provides the eye area with penetrating hydration, a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, an improvement in firmness and elasticity, antioxidant protection and assists in lightening dark under-eye circles.

When we are younger, distribution of cells, fibers and fat pockets are evenly scattered, providing volume to the skin and a healthy glow.  Due to the blood circulation slowing down
and the outer layer of skin thinning, the signs of aging begin to reveal, becoming more noticeable each year.  The most common signs of aging are sagging/lose skin and fine lines and wrinkles.  Pigment cells also begin to decrease, giving the skin a pale/dull-like appearance.  Factors that contribute to causing aging skin include the sun, pollution, smoking, alcohol and using products that strip the skin of its natural oil.  When treating aging skin, it is important to use proper homecare, such as our Youth Complex.  The Youth Complex provides the skin with penetrating hydration, a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, provides antioxidant protection against free radicals, smooths and softens skin, and tightens skin.

How The Bradford Skin Clinic Can Help

At the Bradford Skin Clinic, we offer a variety of different services designed to treat several different skin conditions.  There are different modalities recommended in order to combat the signs of aging.  Proper homecare should be used when receiving any service offered, as it is your insurance to insuring healthy, rejuvenated skin after each treatment.  We offer specialized skincare regimes depending on the clients concerns, consisting of four simples steps; cleanse, treat, hydrate and protect.  Peels are always the first treatments offered to clients dealing with anti-aging, as it is an exfoliation of the skin.  Peels encourage cells to move quicker, resulting in a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, an improvement in sun damage/pigmentation, a reduction in scarring, and an overall evening of skin tone.  Alongside our peel service, we offer Photofacials using our IPL.  It is a light-based treatment and the pulses of light penetrate into the skin, targeting pigmented and vascular lesions.  In company with targeting lesions, it minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improves skin texture, reduces pore size and eliminates discolouration.  Combining these two medical grade treatments along with our pharmaceutical grade skincare is your guide to a youthful appearance.

Tip:  Beginning to care for your skin at 25 years of age is recommended in order to maintain a youthful appearance as long as possible.
