Tired of looking older than you are? Want to get rid of those fine lines and wrinkles and restore your face to a more youthful appearance? What Is Photorejuvenation?

As we age, our levels of collagen density decrease, causing our skin to lose elasticity and become somewhat dull and translucent. Additionally, many of us have a veil of pigment on our skin, that we don’t even know is there, if there aren’t visible sun-spots.  VPL pulses light into the skin, heating it to target and remove the unwanted browns and reds delivering a more even skin tone and an all over glow. It promoted the formation of collagen and elastin which tightens the skin, lightens pigmentation, and reduces telangectasias (broken blood vessels), thus proving all over skin tones, texture and appearance.

What are The Advantages of Photorejuvenation?

  • Noninvasive, nonsurgical
  • No down time
  • Painless
  • Few side effects

What Can Photorejuvenation Accomplish?

  • Remove fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, age spots, liver spots and brown blotches on the face, neck, chest, hands and other areas of the body
  • Reduce redness, acne, rosacea, broken blood vessels on the face, neck and chest
  • Stimulates collagen for a clearer, more even complexion
  • Minimizes pore size and helps fight acne and acne scarring

What Does The Procedure Entail?

The Bradford Skin & Medical Spa will provide you with a comfortable and highly effective rejuvenation experience. Upon entering, you will be taken to a private treatment room, and both your professional aesthetician and you will be given special glasses or eye pads to protect tour eyes.  A cool gel is then placed on the skin being treated. The smooth surface of the laser wand is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light flash. You may feel a very slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band.

At the end of the treatment, your aesthetician will remove the gel, cleans the area with a warm cloth, and applies a moisturizer with sunscreen. If there is any mild swelling, you might be given a cold pack to apply for five or ten minutes. Depending on the area being treated, the procedure only takes between 10 – 30 minutes.

What Areas Can Photorejuvenation Treat?

  • Cheeks
  • Chest
  • Chin
  • Eyes
  • Forehead
  • Hands
  • Neck
  • Nose

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

The number of treatments you need will depend on your age, skin condition, and what you are trying to accomplish. Photorejuvenation, when done properly, almost always consists of a series of 3-6 treatments, usually one every three 2 to 4 weeks. You will see more and more improvement after each treatment.

How Long Will The Results Last?

It depends. If you continue to expose your skin to the sun without sunscreen, new skin damage can occur. But if you take good care of your skin by using quality skin care products, your skin will continue to look good with semi-annual treatments.

Are There Side Effects?

The side effects are minimal, consisting of temporary swelling, redness, an accentuation of the brown spots, crusting, and an occasional bruise or small superficial blister (like a sunburn blister).  There are rare other side effects which we will review with you in your consent form.

Can Anyone Perform Photorejuvenation?

No. Although there are minimal risks to the procedure, photorejuvenation should only be performed by someone licensed to operate the laser. At The Bradford Skin & Medical Spa, our aestheticians undergo rigorous training on the equipment and have successfully performed the treatments on hundreds of satisfied clients.

VPL is also an excellent treatment for hair removal and skin tightening.  That’s one of the reasons we chose the UltraPlus – for its versatility, strength of the pulses and effectiveness.
