Cosmetic Injectables and Fillers

You laugh. You frown. You concentrate. You might look, but not feel, angry, tired or worried. Over time, those expressions leave their negative mark on your face. Until recently, there wasn’t a lot you could do about it. Today, with Injectable Fillers (a simple, safe, non-surgical procedure that is available for even the toughest wrinkle) these deep creases and expression marks can be reduced within days. One ten-minute treatment with a few tiny injections relax the muscles that cause the lines and wrinkles and keeps them relaxed for up to four months. As an added benefit, many people report a significant decline in frequency and severity of tension related headaches.

What are Cosmetic Injectables?

Cosmetic Injectables are natural, purified proteins that relaxes muscles by blocking nerve impulses. The relaxation lasts a number of months before the muscles return to their original state. When used appropriately the duration of effect can be increased from six to twelve months.

Am I a Candidate for Cosmetic Injectables?

Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, has a neuromuscular disorder like myasthenia gravis, has an infection at the proposed injection site, or is intolerant of human albumin (blood product), should not be treated with Cosmetic Injectables. Others tolerate the procedure well, with minimal effects, and are able to return to their regular daily activities.

Excessive sweating?

Cosmetic Injectables are the most effective means treatment for excessive sweating, particularly axillary (underarm) areas. Small doses of Cosmetic Injectables injected just below the upper layer of the skin block excessive sweat gland activity for up to four to six months. In some people, the effect lasts for up to one year.

Fillers

Injectable fillers are a branch of mesotherapy where a small amount of a natural sugar substance, called hyaluronic acid, is injected into the dermis. Fillers are a wonderful treatment to fill wrinkles while maintaining your ability to move muscles in your face. The results are immediate and can take years of of your appearance. In our office, Juvederm and Voluma, which are industry leaders, are our preferred fillers.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar component that is produced by the skin. As the years go by our skin produces less hyaluronic acid, which is the result of our normal aging process. Our skin becomes thinner and as a result, it becomes loose and starts to wrinkle. This reduction in skin volume can make your face look thin and narrow, possibly making you appear older than you are.
